FAQ

I opened the upper part of the machine and there is grit inside. The machine is used!

correct, we do a very small test before packing everything.

It is a brandnew tool and we are still learning/optimizing and to avoid you receiving a BLSTRsander that does not work propperly, we test with a small amount of grit to be sure. It makes our production process longer and more expensive, but we want to deliver a good machine that you can enjoy for a long time.

However, inhouse Quality Control is still not the same as real usage by you. So, yes there can still be issues. Forgive us, we do everyting to improve. On a daily basis. If it is the case please contact us, and we will find a good solution for you.

In the manual it says not to open the machine, but how can I check the blades etc?

Not opening the machine refers only to the body of the machine. Do not open this body and if this is broken you need to contact us.

The upper part of the BLSTRsander can be opened to replace, check, clean etc. the rotating parts. You can compare these partsas the replaceable parts of a grinder

Unscrew the 3 black screws at the top and you have acces to the impeller (=the 2 aluminium plates that keep the 6 blades in place), the metal topcover (with the slider inserted in it) and the plastic topcover with the tube.

Make sure that when you assemble the tool again , the tube goes well through the metal topcover, that the slider is well in place and opens/closes correctly and that the slider- end is well inserted into the "fork" that guides the start/stop button.

Why does it cost more than an average anglegrinder or drill

We use very abrasive resistant components on the inside to avoid the tool being eaten from the inside. These ceramic parts are not very common, and certainly not in this shape. Therefore it is very expensive. Also, as we are not a big multinational like the well known brands, we don't get to benefit from economies of scale. Not yet :-)

What's the difference in performance with compressor sandblasting?

There is none. The disadvantages of a compressor beside being big, bulky and loud, is that it loses power (pressure) very fast. WIth a 10BAR 100Liter compressor you will very quickly be at 8BAR, once you have started. Then you will have to wait until pressure is back to 10BAR.

The blasting itself is quite the same. It takes off the paint and rust with exactly the same ease or effort.

What grit can I use?

All the grits you want BUT

Stick in the beginning to 0.2-0.5mm (there is a conversion table on the website)

Do NOT use cheap white sand that you buy for your children to play in. That sand, when it breaks or is blasted, releases silicata which is EXTREMELY dangerous

We have good experience with Metabo grit Aluminium Oxide, available on Amazon and others

Why not with a battery?

It will one day.

Can the beam or gritflow not be more narrow?

No, we tried but unfortunately physics does not help us. That's the way the tool works. Once you get the feeling of BLSTing, it doesn't bother you anymore.

The advantage is (compared to traditional sandblasting with compressor), the surface is blasted wider/larger (no deep spots) and you get smoother results.

Can I use other grits outside the 0.2mm-0.5mm range

Yes, the BLSTR sander will not get damaged. We recommend that in the beginning you stick to the dimensions above. To get a good feeling of the BLSTR sander. Later you can experiment. Finer grit will however create lots of dust. Thicker grains can cause blocking (and then you need to clean it).

Can the BLSTR sander be used for wet sandblasting?

No, the BLSTR sander is designed for dry sandblasting applications only. Using it for wet sandblasting can damage the internal components and void the warranty.

What types of materials can I sandblast with the BLSTR sander?

The BLSTR sander is versatile and can be used on a variety of materials including wood, metal, glass, and brick. It’s important to select the correct grit size and adjust the sander’s settings according to the material to ensure optimal results without damaging the surface.

Troubleshooting

the little screw on the left side of the machine (upwards), do I need to use it? How to assemble the handprotection guard.

Yes, you need it to fixate the handguard to the machine. In that way the handguard is fixated on 2 points (the handgrip and the little screw).

If only fixed with the handgrip, it is not stable and will break off.

nearly no grit comes out OR the grit flow isn't smooth, and sometimes stops

Here is a temporary test solution :

we found out that the BLSTRsander can have a teething problem with the sleeve that regulates the grit. It is a completely new tool, so please forgive us

HOW:

1) Take out the 3 screws at the top, and remove the plastic cover AND the metal cover TOGETHER so that the tube stays well in place.

2) Check if the tube is correctly attached and goes through the 2 covers. Can you see through it?  (No? send us an email please)

3) Now carefully remove the metal slider by pulling it back.

4) Put the whole machine back together but this time without the slider.

Does the BLSTRsander work now?

Great. That was the tooth!

But please send us an email (service@BLSTRsander.com) so that we can find a more final solution for you.

It doesn't work, send us a email as well.

Good luck and thanks for your patience

the BLSTR sander starts fine but then grit stops flowing What can I do?

This issue could be due to a blockage in the grit feed system. Ensure that the grit container is not only filled correctly but that the grit itself is dry and free from clumps. Check the feeding tube and nozzle for any obstructions. Verify that the grit flow regulator is properly adjusted according to the manufacturer's instructions.
